About the Role

At Indoc Systems, we design, build, and manage complex health data infrastructure for research organizations across the globe. We deploy large scale secure informatics platforms involving wide-ranging and complex health data modalities (e.g., imaging, genomics, wearables) across multiple disease areas including brain, cardiovascular, and cancer. The Indoc Informatic platforms and services have been deployed in diverse settings including on-premise (research institutes and hospitals) and private and public clouds. These systems employ a range of security measures and limitations, supporting a spectrum of applications from highly-isolated systems for extreme security through to open systems for broad collaboration and even public distribution.

We are currently seeking a Cybersecurity Specialist to join Indoc’s Technical and Security Operations team. The Cybersecurity Specialist will be responsible for a broad range of operational and developmental activities, internal assessments and monitoring, training, and enhancing our security stance at all levels throughout the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, implement, and monitor processes and technology related to secure cloud and on-premise platform development, deployment, and operations

  • Provide insight and guidance with a security lens into the design, technology, and methodologies of the software development, development operations, and technical operations groups

  • Review, implement, and enhance vulnerability and patch management procedures and technology across development and production systems

  • Implement and improve security event handling and remediation

  • Implement, operate, and augment SIEM, SOAR, and related security operations

  • Support and perform threat risk assessments as well as automated and manual vulnerability assessments

  • Extend and enable enhanced internal security activities such as endpoint management, audits, gap assessments, and reviews

  • Define and implement ongoing security awareness training, tabletop exercises, and internal educational programs

  • Continue personal training and growth in the ever-shifting world of cybersecurity threats and responses

  • Participate in management exercises around maturing product and program planning, strategy, risk management and provisioning of security-in-depth

  • Bring international security standards practices and procedures into Indoc Systems, for example, NIST 800, SOC 2, HiTrust

Qualifications and Desired Skills

  • 5+ years or equivalent of experience in security-related roles, including exposure to both on-premise and cloud deployments

  • Ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously, efficiently managing own time and resources

  • Ability to communicate effectively in-person and remote, both in verbal and written presentations and reports

  • Familiarity with evolving security intelligence sources and vulnerability reporting

  • Demonstrated commitment and passion in the area of cybersecurity and privacy, including willingness to push through adversity

  • Certified in one or more recognized industry cybersecurity standards such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, C|EH, etc.

  • Demonstrated awareness of established security standards and structures such as ISO 27001, NIST 800, MITRE ATT&CK

  • Strong knowledge in networking and administration of Windows and Linux operating systems

  • Strong knowledge in Azure or other public cloud technologies

  • Willingness to undergo and pass both initial and annual background checks, including Ontario CRJM

Optional Qualifications
  • Certification in Azure or other cloud technologies

  • Certification or training in specific cybersecurity skills such as digital forensics, event analysis, open source intelligence, ethical hacking

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, cybersecurity, or related fields; or equivalent

  • Familiarity with germane monitoring tools such as Grafana, Azure Log Analytics, SCAP programs, SIEMs

Compensation
  • $100,000-$120,000 salary, permanent, full-time
